Writer's Summit Tip #10:
Hand your first proof to someone who is a skilled editor and allow them to 'clean' up your book BEFORE you share your book with friends and family.
Remember, your first proof is not ready for publication! It is like a newborn baby with the gunk still on it. If you do you share your book prematurely with non-professionals, you open yourself up to unnecessary criticism and (unintentional) dream stealing.
Your confidence is what will drive the book's initial sales and any early words of criticism can ring in your ears for a long time. Wait until you are confident in your project and solid in your dream - BEFORE you share it with others, especially those closest to you whose opinions you value highly!
"You don't have to
be good to start,
but you have to start
to be good."
