Writer's Summit Tip #32:
Have a 'return policy.'
If you are calling a bookstore to set up a book signing event and you are asked if your book in "Print on Demand," answer, "No." The bookstore doesn't really care how your book was printed, what they are really asking is whether or not your book is 'returnable.' Answer that question with your return policy, such as "I offer a full 120 day return policy."

Add your bar code, ISBN and list price visibly to the back of your book. If you are pitching that book to brick and mortar bookstores, they will check off a checklist that includes these items BEFORE they even open your book.
The next item on the checklist will be: Do you have an LCCN (Library of Congress Catalog Number) - if you do great, if not, click through to this page on copyrights and information regarding copyrights.
